Lemon juice and sugar? Nutella? Maple syrup and a slice of bacon? Regardless of how you prefer yours, pancake fans across the country will agree that Shrove Tuesday is always eagerly awaited! Traditionally a time to use up the last of the egg supplies before Lent, with pancakes being a quick and simple recipe, nowadays it’s mainly an opportunity to indulge in a tasty treat!
The Old Vicarage Care Home, elderly care home in Kettering, is most definitely not short of pancake-lovers, so of course we couldn’t let the occasion pass without joining in!
The residents had a fantastic time putting their frying and flipping skills to the test. A few pancake disasters aside, it was a huge success and there were more than enough pancakes, with everyone’s favourite toppings, to go round – although we can confirm that absolutely none of them went to waste!
