Supporting The Queens Green Canopy at The Old Vic

The Old Vicarage Care Home recently saw the planting of two new trees in order to mark The Queen’s Green Canopy - a fantastic initiative which is encouraging individuals and communities across the nation to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee.” The aim is to enhance the environment, with a focus on sustainable tree planting, whilst commemorating The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The program officially begins in October 2021 and continues until the end of 2022, however, The Old Vic had the opportunity to get involved early.

One of our lovely residents, Yvonne, donated two young acer trees so that they could be given a home in the gardens of our elderly care home in Kettering. Even though The Queen’s Green Canopy isn’t officially underway, it was the perfect chance to show support for such an amazing initiative. Hopefully it is just the first of many trees planted over the coming year, creating an excellent legacy to honour The Queen whilst providing future generations the benefit of a greener, healthier environment.

Acers are such beautiful trees with lovely vivid colours and everybody is looking forward to watching their progress as they grow and flourish. The occasion even caught the attention of the Northamptonshire Telegraph, who wrote a fantastic news article covering the moment!
